چکیده
This study seeks to add the research on inequality in least developed countries, namely Mozambique, by measuring and mapping indicators of horizontal wealth along geographic regions ethnolinguistic identities. Using census data for 1997, 2007, 2017, we identify possible intersecting inequalities, between-group joint provincial–urban/rural–ethnolinguistic Additionally, find heterogeneous evolutions group between 1997 2017 among country’s eleven provinces. We that, while there is a general improvement average household indicators, strong suggestion increasing inequalities 2017. Although this manifest throughout country, general, evidence that southern provinces may be experiencing more equitable development. evolution driven an urban–rural decoupling, added low internal migration. These are insights from correlates. No causal inference can made analysis. However, differences groups, if perceived, feed grievances. They should better understood so underlying causes addressed.

Horizontal Inequalities:
Horizontal Inequality (HI) is defined as inequality among culturally defined (or constructed) groups, in contrast to Vertical Inequality (VI) which is inequality among households or individuals. HIs are multidimensional, including a political and social dimension, as well as economic, and a range of elements in each of these dimensions. There is evidence that in many, but not all, cases HIs per...
متن کاملHorizontal and Vertical Inequalities in India
Using the first nationally representative detailed income data for India from the 2005 India Human Development Survey (IHDS), Desai and colleagues (2010) reported Indian income inequality to have the high levels typical for lowand middle-income countries. The IHDS Gini of 0.52 puts India at a similar level as Brazil (0.49) and well above the levels observed even in the most unequal high-income ...

متن کاملBrace-Daykin type inequalities for intersecting families
Let n,k and r ≥ 8 be positive integers. Suppose that a family F ⊂ ([n] k ) satisfies F1∩·· ·∩Fr 6= / 0 for all F1, . . . ,Fr ∈F and ⋂ F∈F F = / 0. We prove that there exist εr > 0 and nr such that |F | ≤ (r +1) ( n− r−1 k− r ) + ( n− r−1 k− r−1 ) holds for all n and k, satisfying n > nr and | k n − 2 |< εr.
متن کاملBeyond dichotomies: Gender and intersecting inequalities in climate change studies
Climate change and related adaptation strategies have gender-differentiated impacts. This paper reviews how gender is framed in 41 papers on climate change adaptation through an intersectionality lens. The main findings show that while intersectional analysis has demonstrated many advantages for a comprehensive study of gender, it has not yet entered the field of climate change and gender. In c...
